The case against alleged criminal kingpin Vusumuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala and his three co-accused has been postponed to the 11th of February next year in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court for further investigation.
The accused face charges linked to the alleged use of fraudulent documents to secure ownership of a property in Waterkloof, east of Pretoria, last year.
Matlala’s three co-accused, including his wife Tsakane Matlala were granted bail of R20 000 each last month.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Lumka Mahanjana says, “We are dealing with four accused persons, so the State will need to go into their financial statements individually, hence why the matter then is postponed to the 11th of February, 2027.”
“And you must understand between now and then we have a festive season where things kind of slow down a little bit. The postponement has no bearing on the strength of the State’s case. It’s just that we need to put all our ducks in the row before the matter is trial ready,” adds Mahanjana.
