Mbekezeli Mbokazi will have to pay a fine and miss Chicago Fire’s upcoming encounter against Antoine Griezmann’s side, Orlando City.
Mbokazi is set to miss Chicago Fire’s next match in the Major League Soccer regular season.
MLS confirmed on its official website that Mbokazi would be ineligible to play against Orlando City in the early hours of Thursday morning after accumulating his fifth yellow card in the previous game.
As a result, the lad nicknamed ‘TLB’ will serve an automatic one-match suspension. Under the 2026 MLS regular-season rules, a fifth yellow card also carries a fine of $250 (approximately R4,166).
His Chicago Fire teammate and close friend off the pitch, Dje D’Avilla, will also miss the match under the same circumstances.
Following the clash against Orlando City, Chicago will have only three matches remaining in the 2026 MLS regular season.
The club have already qualified for the next phase of the competition, the 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs, but are yet to discover their opponents, with the matches set to begin on 18 November.
