Sizwe Dhlomo’s reaction to Julius Malema’s Podcast and Chill rant gets X talking
EFF leader Julius Malema has sparked fresh debate over the influence of digital media after criticising MacGyver ‘MacG’ Mukwevho and his hugely popular Podcast and Chill.
Speaking during a recent address, Malema argued that one of South Africa’s biggest podcasts has become a distraction for young people, claiming it encourages entertainment and excessive drinking culture instead of meaningful political engagement.
Malema went as far as suggesting that Podcast and Chill was created to “depoliticise” young people, warning that the country’s youth risk becoming disconnected from issues that directly affect their futures.
MacG, that thing is called MacG Podcast. It’s a political party, that thing. Its role is to depoliticise the youth.
Malema also slammed the podcast for what he believes is “the careless treatment of black public figures,” stating that the show speaks loosely about black and African figures.
The comments have divided opinion on social media, with many users turning to prominent media personality Sizwe Dhlomo to weigh in on the discourse. Dhlomo’s reaction to the rant has since ignited further conversation on X, as users debate the intersection of political responsibility and entertainment media.
