Saps officer Among Atm bombers k!lled & Arrested In

Three suspects have been shot dead following an ATM bombing on Wednesday near Zeerust in the North West.

Police said the suspects were cornered at a safe house in Magogoe near Mahikeng, where a shootout ensued between officers from the National Intervention Unit.

Major General Ryno Naidoo says more arrests are imminent.

“Well, there’s more than 10…between 10 and 12 suspects that were involved in the initial. The specialised unit was tracking them and unfortunately they already committed the ATM bombing before they could be stopped, but then the unit chased them from Dinokana in Zeerust and we managed to arrest some of the suspects on the way and they are in custody.”

Following an intelligence-driven operation, police later arrested five suspects, including a police officer.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear in court soon, facing charges related to ATM bombing, possession of explosives, and other related offences.
