Ramaphosa to unveil Phase 3 of Government Business Partnership
President Cyril Ramaphosa has officially launched Phase 3 of the Government-Business Partnership, marking a strategic shift from economic stabilization and reform to a focus on growth, job creation, and confidence. The launch, held in Sandton, convened key ministers and senior business leaders to align on a shared plan aimed at accelerating South Africa’s economic trajectory.
The partnership, which was established in 2023 during a period of severe economic constraints, has already delivered measurable results, including over a year without loadshedding, improved rail and port performance, and the country’s exit from the FATF Grey List. Building on these foundations, Phase 3 aims to lift economic growth above 3% and create one million additional jobs by 2030.
What started as a platform to address multiple crises has evolved into a platform for growth and shared prosperity. Business is fully committed to contributing leadership, expertise, implementation capacity and investment support alongside government. We believe South Africa has a significant opportunity to build a self-reinforcing cycle of an improved narrative, investment, growth, jobs and increased confidence.
Phase 3 will prioritize sectors with high growth potential, specifically tourism, mining, and agriculture, which are viewed as key drivers for employment. Additionally, the partnership will continue its focus on tackling crime and corruption, improving municipal service delivery, and expanding youth employment initiatives. The initiative will operate through a proven delivery model that brings together government officials and business CEOs to resolve implementation bottlenecks and ensure accountability.
