MAN ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION AND COPPER CABLES IN THABAZIMBI
A 31-year-old man has been arrested for the illegal possession of ammunition and copper cables during an operation conducted by police in Thabazimbi on Friday, 07 August 2026.
Members of the Thabazimbi, together with Task Team members from Hoopdal, Northam and Dwaalboom were conducting operational duties within the Thabazimbi policing precinct at about 21:10 when they stopped and searched a man carrying a black backpack.
During the search, police allegedly found 50 live ammunition and 20 rolled copper cables in his possession. The suspect was immediately arrested.
A case of illegal possession of ammunition and possession of copper cables has been registered.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, welcomed the arrest and commended the members for their vigilance during routine operational duties.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Thabazimbi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.
