Brazilian defender Gustavo Lopes has parted ways with AmaZulu after a short spell at the club, with his representatives now looking to secure him another opportunity in South Africa.
The Siya crew has been informed that Lopes is expected to remain in the country as he and his representatives explore options before the close of the September transfer window.

According to sources, a move to Gauteng is being targeted, although it is understood that it is still unclear whether suitable opportunities will emerge for the 26-year-old in the province.
Lopes joined AmaZulu in January 2026 after leaving Mozambican side Clube Ferroviário da Beira, where he had spent two seasons. He did well for the club during his time in Mozambique before making the move to the PSL.
The Brazilian, who can operate both as a centre-back and defensive midfielder, was unveiled by Usuthu in January.
However, Lopes struggled to establish himself as a regular at AmaZulu and found game time difficult to come by under coach Arthur Zwane.
His departure now leaves the player assessing his next move, with sources indicating that the priority is to remain in Mzansi and find a new club before the transfer window closes in September.

At 26, Lopes is understood to be keen on continuing his career in the country after getting a taste of the Mzansi’s topflight during his time with Usuthu.
With his representatives actively sounding out the market, the coming weeks could determine whether the Brazilian remains in the Betway Premiership or has to consider opportunities elsewhere.
