Security Officer Kidnapped by Armed Gang: Parkgate – KZN

A 34 year old Security Officer was kidnapped by four (4) armed suspects who later committed a robbery and fired multiple shots in Parkgate – KZN this afternoon (Friday, 07/08/2026).

The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre received a call for assistance at approximately 21:30 after the victim’s girlfriend reported the incident. Reaction Officers commenced a search and located him walking back to Parkgate.

The victim stated that he was entering his rented apartment when four (4) suspects travelling in a blue Volkswagen Polo approached him. The men produced handguns, forced him into the vehicle and drove around the area.

The suspects later concealed the vehicle before three (3) of them proceeded on foot and robbed a male and female. Multiple shots were fired during the robbery. The fourth suspect remained with the victim and held him at gunpoint.

The three (3) suspects returned to the Volkswagen Polo and fled towards Cornubia – KZN. The victim was robbed of his cellphone and identity document. The suspects also withdrew R2500 using his bank card.

He was abandoned on the R102 near Phoenix – KZN and proceeded back to Parkgate on foot, where he was located by Reaction Officers.

The victim could not confirm whether the same suspects had shot and killed a man during a failed robbery on Greenwood Close in Parkgate – KZN.
