The mother of nine-year-old Gomolemo Mavimbela, who was killed in a car crash involving former Sekhukhune United player Shaun Mogaila, has rejected the footballer’s plea for forgiveness.

Mogaila, 29, appeared in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court this week, where he sought to enter into a plea agreement regarding the October 2024 accident that claimed the young girl’s life.

I cannot accept his apology. It does not bring my daughter back, and it does not erase the pain of losing her in such a horrific manner.

The victim’s mother expressed her deep anguish, stating that the legal process has been a painful reminder of the day her daughter was taken from her while on the way to school.

The state continues to pursue charges of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving, and failing to render assistance following the collision.
