SABC News has been reliably told that police have recovered firearms belonging two officers that were gunned down in Reiger Park, east of Johannesburg, on Friday.
The Hawks are currently at the scene of the crime as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the Acting National Police Commissioner, Puleng Dimpane, says they’ve allocated additional resources to the manhunt for suspects in the killing of police officers in Reiger Park, east of Johannesburg.
Eight police officers have been killed in the line of duty since April this year.
Dimpane was speaking on Sunday during an engagement with residents of the area after four people, including two officers, were shot dead on Friday.
“We are enhancing our intelligence operation; we are strengthening specialized operations as well and increasing our operation to identify and pursue and bring those responsible for this violence. There is no space for gang violence in this community of Rieger Park.”
