‘Government must be your sugar daddy’: Malema says social grants should be increased
EFF leader Julius Malema has called for social grants in South Africa to be raised, arguing that the state should take on the role of supporting its citizens financially.
I do not want young children and girls who go and sleep with Sibiya because they want money sugar daddies, government must be your sugar daddy, no man must be your sugar daddy we must support you.
Malema, speaking at the launch of the EFF’s provincial manifesto in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga, proposed that social grants should start at a minimum of R4 500 per month. He argued that there is enough money available to provide greater support to those who depend on grants, but alleged that public funds are being misappropriated.
To fund these increases, Malema suggested cutting down the size of the cabinet, specifically targeting deputy ministers, whom he described as useless and overpaid. He emphasized that the government should be the primary provider for citizens to prevent them from having to rely on exploitative relationships.
