Residents and road users across the City of Johannesburg urged to exercise extreme caution as heavy rains continue to increase the risk of flooding in various areas

The Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Public Safety, Cllr Moshe Koma, urges residents and road users across the City of Johannesburg to exercise extreme caution as heavy rains continue to increase the risk of flooding in various areas. Residents are advised that where flooding occurs on roads, in low-lying areas, or where there is an immediate risk to life and property, they should evacuate the affected area immediately and move to a safe location.Motorists are urged to:• Avoid crossing flooded roads, low-lying bridges and areas where water levels are rising.

• Never attempt to drive through moving or fast-flowing water.
• Exercise extreme caution and reduce speed in wet conditions.
• Keep a safe following distance from other vehicles.
• Where possible, avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall.
