One person has tragically lost their life following a serious multi vehicle crash along the N2 freeway in the vicinity of Nandi Drive on Saturday evening.

KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services, together with multiple other emergency service providers, responded to the scene where crews were met with extensive wreckage and a chaotic scene across several lanes of the freeway.

Approximately four to five vehicles are believed to have been involved in the collision, with damaged vehicles scattered across various parts of the roadway.

Preliminary information from the scene indicates that a light motor vehicle may have been travelling contra flow against oncoming traffic before allegedly colliding head on with another vehicle. The initial impact is believed to have resulted in several other vehicles subsequently becoming involved in the crash.

Multiple patients were assessed and triaged by emergency medical personnel. Those requiring further care were stabilised on scene before being…
