151 Young Technical Talents to Compete in South Africa’s National Skills Competition Final This Week
The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) is hosting the WorldSkills South Africa (WSZA) National Competition from 13 to 15 February 2019 at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC).
The competition will see 151 young technical talents from across the country compete in 25 different skills categories. These young people have been selected from regional competitions held in all nine provinces.
The WorldSkills South Africa National Competition is a platform for young people to showcase their technical and vocational skills, and to compete for the opportunity to represent South Africa at the WorldSkills International Competition, which will be held in Kazan, Russia, in August 2019.

The competition is also an opportunity to raise the profile of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in South Africa, and to encourage more young people to pursue careers in these fields.
The Minister of Higher Education and Training, Naledi Pandor, will officially open the competition on 13 February 2019.
