Two arrested and hijacked vehicle intercepted at Beacon Valley

Two suspects will appear before the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court today after they were found in possession of a hijacked vehicle and a prohibited firearm on Saturday, 22 August 2026.

The duo was arrested by members of the Flying Squad, who were patrolling in the Industrial area at around 17:00. The members spotted a white Kia motor vehicle without registration plates at Bravo Street, and the driver attempted to flee. He was stopped in his tracks, and police conducted a vehicle search, which resulted in the recovery of a .38 Special revolver firearm without a serial number and four rounds of ammunition. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Parow. The two males, aged 25 and 27, were arrested for possession of a hijacked vehicle, possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

The suspects will appear before the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 24 August 2026.
