Just after 12:00 the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit received a call for a serious motorbike accident on the R25 in the Bashewa area of Pretoria East.

On arrival our team found 1 patient with critical injuries being stabilized by multiple Advanced Life Support paramedics and 1 patient with serious injuries being treated inside an ambulance after 2 motorcycles collided.

Due to the extent of one patient’s injuries, an aeromedical helicopter was activated to transport the patient to a specialist trauma hospital in Johannesburg. The scene was handed over to SAPS to investigate the cause of the accident.

Thank you to Netcare911, Emer-G-Med, ER24, Gauteng Emergency Medical Services, EMS Chaplaincy and Trauma Support, and SAPS for assisting on scene.
