Truck Driver Killed in N2 Crash Near Umhlanga Interchange
A truck driver has tragically lost his life following a serious crash on the N2 northbound, before the Umhlanga Interchange, on Friday afternoon.
KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services were dispatched following multiple reports of the incident. Upon arrival, paramedics found a heavy motor vehicle that had overturned after it is believed the truck jackknifed, causing the container to fall onto its side.
It is believed the driver was ejected from the cab during the crash and became trapped beneath the vehicle. Members of the public managed to extricate the driver from beneath the truck before emergency services arrived.
Despite the rapid response of emergency personnel, the driver had sustained fatal injuries and was sadly declared deceased at the scene.
The exact circumstances leading up to the crash remain unknown and will form part of the investigation by the relevant authorities.
