Three Injured After Bakkie Plunges Down Embankment in Bishopstowe
Three men were injured after a bakkie left Chief Mhlabunzima Road and went down an embankment in the Bishopstowe area this morning.
At around 8am, Mi7 Emergency Medical Services received reports of the serious accident and dispatched paramedics to the scene, including the specialised Rapid Response vehicle sponsored by BMW Pietermaritzburg, part of the Supertech Group.
On arrival, crews found that the driver of the bakkie had lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and down an embankment.
Three male occupants were found with moderate injuries, with all three requiring Advanced Life Support interventions. Paramedics from Mi7 EMS and other emergency services worked together to stabilise the patients before beginning the difficult task of carrying them up the embankment to awaiting ambulances.
Once brought back to the roadside, the patients were transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
We wish all those injured a successful recovery.
