Sundowns bump up offer for right-back target

Mamelodi Sundowns are said to have submitted a fresh offer for the services of a PSL star in their frantic efforts to fill the defensive hole that has been caused by Khuliso Mudau’s injury.
Sundowns are currently faced with a void to fill in their right-back position after Mudau suffered a long-term injury recently.
Another defender, Zuko Mdunyelwa, was stretchered off the field after also sustaining an injury during a Betway Premiership match against Milford FC at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday.
Thapelo Morena now remains the only option for the position, and with games coming thick and fast, the Tshwane giants are keen to avert further disaster.
According to a reliable source at Chloorkop, Sundowns have since considerably bumped up their offer (figure known to this publication) for the services of Thabang Matuludi, who is on the books of Polokwane City.
Sundowns are believed to be hoping to finalise the deal in the coming days.
“The club has submitted a new offer for the services of the player,” said the source, who wanted to remain anonymous.

“They have now increased the offer by a few million.”
Orlando Pirates have also maintained their interest in the player, who travelled to Bafana Bafana for the 2026 World Cup, where he was second in the pecking order of right-backs behind Mudau.
The Soweto giants have parted ways with Deano Van Rooyen, which has opened space for the signing of a new right-back.
