The SANDF and SAPS conducted a joint anti-criminality and illicit mining
The SANDF and SAPS conducted a joint anti-criminality and illicit mining operation in central Johannesburg on 19 August 2026 under Operation PROSPER.
During foot patrols in B-Section, Wittenburg Street, soldiers from the Solomon Mahlangu Regiment discovered an abandoned black plastic bag. Inside were 20 ziplock bags containing a substance suspected to be crystal methamphetamine.
The suspected drugs were confiscated and booked in at Eldorado Park Police Station.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the SANDF and SAPS to combat illicit mining, drug-related crime and other criminal activities in Gauteng.
