A new state witness is expected to testify this Wednesday morning at the Durban High Court in the trial of seven men accused of murdering musician Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his friend, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane.
On Tuesday, concerns were raised about whether CCTV footage could have been tampered with.
Forbes and Motsoane were shot and killed outside Wish Restaurant on Florida Road in Durban in February 2023.
Defence lawyer Advocate William Nicholson questioned SAPS technical detective Constable Rajen Sanders, who is a state witness.
Constable Sanders: “I’m going to disagree with you about the authenticity. I have done multiple footages and this footage, when you download it, it’s there on the screen; if it is tampered with, you will be able to see that the footage has been tampered or interfered with.”
Defence lawyer: “And from viewing the footage, you can see it has been tampered with?”
Constable Sanders: “Yes, your date, your time, everything will be changed. You will see a big time stamp change. If you alter footage it is going to alter the whole DVR, you can’t just alter a certain part of the footage.”-Reporting by Gcinokuhle Malinga
