The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Limpopo says the lekompo musician Lehlogonolo “Shebe Maburna” Chauke’s third bail application on new facts has been cancelled in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court.
NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi says the application was cancelled after Maburna appointed new legal counsel.
He is facing a total of 21 charges, including four counts of attempted murder, theft and malicious damage to property, among others.
The new legal counsel needs more time to familiarise themselves with the matter before the new bail application can proceed.
Maburna was earlier represented by Advocate Michael Khumalo and Senior Counsel Laurence Hodes.
Judge Karin Pillay has said that Shebe committed serious offences while on bail.-Reporting by Rendani Raliphaswa
