Ramaphosa: Abuse, rape and killing of women not our heritage
President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared that the abuse, rape, and killing of women in South Africa is not part of the country’s heritage. Speaking on the scourge of gender-based violence, the President emphasized that such acts are a violation of the values and history of the nation.
Not how women dress or how they behave – that cannot be a justification. Not because some favour is given to them, not because they leave a relationship, and not because they are a junior employee.
The President’s remarks come as part of a broader government effort to address the high rates of violence against women and children. He has consistently called for communities to stop turning a blind eye to these crimes and has urged men to take responsibility in ending the cycle of violence.
