PSL Clubs Monitoring Pirates Player Situation?

Orlando Pirates’ sizeable first-team squad could create opportunities for some PSL clubs, with the Buccaneers’ player situation understood to be attracting growing interest ahead of the transfer window deadline.
The Siya crew has been informed that a number of clubs are closely monitoring developments at Pirates, with the possibility of loan moves for players who may find regular game time difficult to come by this season.
According to sources, Chippa United, Siwelele FC and Orbit College FC are among the clubs keeping a close eye on the situation, although it remains to be seen whether Pirates will sanction temporary departures.
The speculation comes after head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou openly acknowledged the challenges of managing such a large squad.
Pirates began the defence of their Betway Premiership title with a convincing 2-0 victory over newly-promoted Milford FC at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday, with Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi getting on the scoresheet.
While the opening-day line-up featured many of the players who formed the backbone of last season’s historic treble-winning campaign, the Soweto giants have significantly strengthened their squad during the current transfer window.
The club recruited the likes of Ghampani Lungu, Mthetheleli Mthiyane, Neo Rapoo, Matome Mmolai, Sbangani Zulu, Bohlale Ngwato, Thapelo Mokobodi and Sebastian Pedersen, among others.
Despite several departures during the off-season, Pirates still have one of the largest squads in the league, with more than 40 players contracted to the club.
Speaking after the victory over Milford, Ouaddou admitted that his preferred working group is considerably smaller.
The coach’s comments are likely to fuel speculation that some players could be allowed to leave temporarily in search of regular minutes, particularly with the transfer window still open.
At this stage, however, no decisions have been communicated publicly by the Soweto giants, with Ouaddou expected to continue assessing his options as the season gathers momentum.
