Newly signed Orlando Pirates striker Sebastian Pedersen in training at Rand Stadium

Orlando Pirates have provided a fresh update on Sebastian Pedersen ahead of their Betway Premiership clash against AmaZulu FC on Wednesday evening.

The Norwegian striker has been the subject of plenty of interest since completing his move to the Buccaneers from Norwegian outfit Sogndal Fotball last month.

However, Pedersen is yet to make his competitive debut for the Soweto giants, with head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou previously making it clear that the club would not rush his introduction.

As part of their build-up to the next match, Pirates shared their “INSIDE TRAINING MD-2” pictures on social media, with Pedersen among the players featuring in the training session.

The sighting is significant given the uncertainty around when the 27-year-old will be ready to make his first appearance for the club.

Pirates were made to sweat against a 10-man Durban City before eventually producing the goods in a dramatic finish to prevail 2-1 in their MTN8 quarter-final clash at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday.

Attention now turns to the league, with the Buccaneers travelling to Durban to face AmaZulu at Kings Park Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The training appearance does not necessarily mean Pedersen is guaranteed to be involved against Usuthu, but it represents a positive step in his integration into the Pirates squad.

The former Sogndal forward signed a two-year deal with the Buccaneers, with the club holding an option to extend his contract by a further season.

His arrival has generated considerable excitement among the Pirates faithful, particularly with the club looking to defend their Betway Premiership title and compete on multiple fronts this season.

Whether Wednesday’s trip to Durban will finally provide the opportunity for Pedersen to make his long-awaited Pirates debut remains to be seen.
