Oh no, 19 School Kids Left Serious Injured following a taxi accident in
Nineteen (19) learners sustained injuries after a scholar transport vehicle overturned at the corner of New Glasgow Road and Vincent Dickenson Road in Canelands – KZN this morning (Thursday, 21/05/2026).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received multiple calls for assistance at approximately 07:22. Reaction Officers and Emergency Services were immediately dispatched to the scene.
On arrival, First Responders discovered the Toyota Hiace overturned on its side. According to witnesses, the scholar transport vehicle collided with a delivery truck before overturning.
A total of 21 learners between the ages of 5 and 15 years old were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the incident. 19 pupils sustained minor injuries to their hands while several others complained of body pain. The learners are in Grades 2 to 10.
The injured were treated on scene before being transported for further medical assessment.
