Off-Duty Security Officer Gunned Down: Buffelsdraai – KZN
An off-duty Security Officer employed by a Durban – KZN-based security company was shot five (5) times on Spring Road in Buffelsdraai – KZN this evening (Monday, 24/08/2026).
At approximately 19:22, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance following a shooting on a residential property. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and escorted to the scene by the landlord.
On arrival, Officers located the victim lying unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. He sustained four (4) gunshot wounds to his upper back and one (1) to his head.
Five (5) spent cartridges were recovered approximately one (1) metre from his body.
Tenants informed Officers that the deceased had entered his residence with an unidentified female shortly before the shooting. The woman could not be located following the incident.
The motive for the murder has not been established.
