Nine women’s bodies in two months: another discovered in Dawn Park

Police are at the scene in Dawn Park, Ekurhuleni, where a woman’s body has been discovered.

Gauteng police chief Maj-Gen Fred Kekana said the half-naked body is believed to be that of a 30-year-old woman. This is a similar discovery to the eight other bodies found in the metro.

Kekana said preliminary indications are the murder occurred elsewhere and the body was dumped in Dawn Park.

The victim had a stab wound to her body and it appeared that her throat was slit, he said.

The team is active and detectives are combing the area for clues.

Police spokesperson Col Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the case will be added to the investigations into the deaths of women in Ekurhuleni.

“The unidentified body was discovered earlier this morning, 17 September 2026. This brings the total number of bodies discovered to nine in two months.

“A multidisciplinary team of experts has already been mobilised to work on the cases and ensure that those responsible for these crimes are brought before the court.

“The police appeal to community members to share any information that may have to assist with the investigations on the Crime Stop Line at 08600-10111 or provide anonymous tip-offs on MySAPS app, which can be downloaded on any smartphone. All information received will be treated with strictest confidence.”
