Motorist Gunned Down In Suspected Assassination: Oakford – KZN
A 33-year-old man was shot and killed in a suspected targeted assassination in Oakford, KZN this afternoon (Friday, 22/05/2026).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received multiple calls after residents reported that an Indian male armed with an AK-47 opened fire on the driver of a blue Toyota Corolla.
Reaction Officers arrived on scene and found the victim lying across the front seats of the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds to his face and body. He was declared deceased on scene.
Witnesses alleged that the shooter arrived in a silver VW T-Cross before opening fire on the motorist and fleeing the area.
Several high-calibre spent rifle cartridges were recovered.
Residents said the deceased lived nearby and was allegedly involved in informal trading, although the nature of his business activities remains unknown.
The motive for the killing has not yet been established.
