Mother of 7 Reportedly K!lled By Ex-boyfriend
Lebogang Caroline Motswasele (44), a mother of seven from Mmatau Village (Ralefoka section) near Rustenburg in South Africa’s North West province, was brutally murdered on 28 February 2026.
She was allegedly attacked with an axe by her ex-boyfriend (and the father of some of her children), identified in reports as Oupa David Maselwane (64). She was beaten, left in the bushes, rushed to hospital in critical condition, and died from her injuries on 1 March 2026.
Lebogang was laid to rest on Sunday, 8 March 2026, in Mmatau Village (at her family home, the site of the attack). Hundreds attended, and there was widespread grief and anger. Maselwane’s own brother publicly expressed shame and condemned the act.
This case bring strong local outrage over gender-based violence (GBV), with residents demanding justice and highlighting the broader issue of femicide in South Africa.
Deepest condolences to the families, community members
