JUST IN: Kaze’s Sekhukhune exit wheels in motion

Following reports linking Sekhukhune United head coach Cedric Kaze with a departure from the club, KickOff has the latest on the situation.

Pressure appeared to get the better of Kaze after he was sent off in Sekhukhune’s Betway Premiership clash against Orlando Pirates last Tuesday, with his side already 2-0 down.

He found himself in confrontation with fourth official Akhona Makalima about substitutions taking long to be processed and referee Philangenkosi Khumalo acted decisively on Makalima’s recommendation, dismissing the tactician from the bench towards the end of a match that they eventually lost.

Although Kaze was suspended from a 3-0 loss to the same side in the second leg of the MTN8 semi-final at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday, as reported earlier by this website, the Burundian coach appeared nonchalant and did not seem like a man in charge.

He was spotted by KickOff sitting in the commentary section with the club’s analysis personnel.

Following earlier reports that the relationship between Sekhukhune and the former Young Africans coach has broken down, this publication can confirm that the two parties are in advanced talks for a mutual separation.

According to a reliable source close to the situation, the matter has already escalated to a scenario where Babina Noko management and Kaze are currently locked in negotiations over ending the relationship, just two months since he joined.

Apart from three successive losses to Bucs, the Limpopo side have had a decent start to the campaign, lying seventh on the log with six points from four matches.

It is understood that issues behind the scenes are to blame for a strained relationship between the two parties rather than matters directly related to results.

Sekhukhune are back in Betway Premiership action on Saturday evening as they host TS Galaxy at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, a match in which Kaze will not be able to sit on the bench due to suspension, sshould he still be head coach.
