Julius Malema’s EFF surges to 27% in unexpected municipality, claims latest poll

A new Ipsos poll has revealed a significant surge in support for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality ahead of the upcoming local government elections.

According to the research, the EFF has reached 27% support in the region, positioning the party as a major contender in the metro.

The findings highlight that while the ANC and DA remain the leading parties in most metros, the EFF’s performance in Buffalo City is substantially higher than in other areas, making it a key battleground for the November 2026 elections.
