Julius Malema’s EFF surges to 27% in unexpected municipality, claims latest poll
According to the latest LGE Research Foundation poll for South Africa’s 2026 local government elections, the ANC leads with 38% support. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have seen a significant surge, polling at 27% in the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality.
The Ipsos study was conducted between March and April with 3,600 respondents. The Ipsos poll also found that trust in the ANC had jumped.
