Fixture date change confirmed for Chiefs’ next game
Oct 1, 2026 – 07:45 am

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the first of what could be a pile of fixture changes to their campaign should they again proceed to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Chiefs were due to play Stellenbosch in their next league match on October 17 (15h00) at FNB Stadium.
That match has now been forced to find a new date and will now be played under floodlights on October 13 (19:30) at the same venue. This change — confirmed by Chiefs — has been necessitated by the fact that their opponents for the second qualifying round of the CAF Confederation Cup, Red Arrows, will play their home leg on October 17.
That tie will be played at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, meaning instead of flying out to Lusaka, Chiefs will have to cover further distance in heading to the Copperbelt — as Arrows’ home ground in Lusaka, Nkoloma Stadium, doesn’t meet CAF requirements.
Chiefs will then host the second leg on the weekend of October 23/25, before the Carling Knockout first round match on October 27 and the Soweto derby on October 31. If they progress to the Carling Knockout quarterfinals, that match must be played before the start of the November FIFA dates (November 9-17).
Should Chiefs proceed to the group stages of the Confederation Cup again this season, they will have three group matches to play before Christmas. This will affect three away games against Chippa United (November 28), Milford (December 5) and Marumo Gallants (December 18) — all of which will need to be rescheduled.
It will then get worse in January, with three consecutive weekends reserved for CAF inter-club matches. This will leave fixtures against Durban City (January 10), Sekhukhune United (January 17) and Chippa United (January 23) needing to be moved to new dates — creating a logistical nightmare for the PSL and the club alike.
Chiefs had no players away on senior national team duty during the ongoing FIFA dates, after Lebohang Maboe and Flavio Silva were both withdrawn from their respective national teams due to injury — giving the club a chance to regroup during the break before the fixture pile-up begins in earnest.
