Orlando Pirates supporters could be given another opportunity to see exciting teenage midfielder Mpho Padime in action after the youngster was included in the travelling squad for Tuesday night’s Betway Premiership clash against Kruger United.
The Buccaneers shared a video of the squad travelling to Mbombela Stadium on their official X account, with Padime spotted among the players making the trip for the encounter.

Padime, affectionately known as ‘Phopho’, caught the attention of Buccaneers supporters when he made his long-awaited first-team debut during Saturday’s MTN8 semi-final second-leg victory over Sekhukhune United at the Orlando Amstel Arena.
The 19-year-old was introduced late in the encounter as Pirates sealed a convincing 3-0 win over Babina Noko to book their place in the MTN8 final with a 4-0 aggregate victory. Despite having only limited time on the field, the young midfielder made an immediate impression, playing a role in Pirates’ third goal after showing composure and flair to control the ball before setting up the move that eventually led to Kamogelo Sebelebele finding the back of the net.
The moment drew loud cheers from the Pirates faithful, who clearly enjoyed what they saw from one of the club’s most promising youngsters. Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou also spoke positively about allowing young players the freedom to express themselves, particularly in moments when the team is in a comfortable position, following Padime’s eye-catching contribution.
Now, after making the travelling squad for the trip to Mbombela, Padime could be in line for another opportunity to showcase his ability when Pirates take on Kruger on Tuesday evening.
Whether he gets another run-out remains to be seen, but after making a memorable first impression in Orlando, there will undoubtedly be Buccaneers supporters hoping to see more of ‘Phopho’ in the famous black and white jersey — and the excitement around one of Pirates’ newest first-team faces could continue to grow.
