Renowned KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) environmental activist Dr Desmond D’Sa has died.

KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli says his passing leaves a massive void in South Africa’s social justice movement.

For over three decades, the Goldman Environmental Prize winner spearheaded the fight against industrial pollution, most notably through the South Durban Community Environmental Alliance.

Extending his condolences to the D’Sa family, Premier Ntuli praised his courage and called on South Africans to honour his memory by continuing to defend the rights of affected communities.
