Emotional Phili sends message to founding father of Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs’ explosive new signing, Langelihle Phili, has sent a message of gratitude to club chairman Kaizer Motaung, making a pledge in relation to the badge that he now represents.

Amakhosi giants officially unveiled Phili almost two weeks ago, successfully concluding a lengthy transfer pursuit of the former Stellenbosch FC sensation.

The multi-million rand investment is already paying dividends for the club.

The 21-year-old produced an impressive performance in his first official start, walking away with the Man of the Match accolade after helping the side to a 2-0 victory over Sekhukhune United at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

Speaking to SuperSport TV post-match, the tricky winger expressed his gratitude to the club chairman and vowed to keep up the impressive form.

“Firstly, I want to thank the Almighty for this opportunity,” said Phili.

“I’m honestly out of words, but I’m very happy I was able to help the team. We really, really needed this win, and we worked for it.

“It’s a team effort, so I’m very happy that I was also part of the team. I want to keep delivering and doing this for the team.

“Obviously, it’s been a long journey with a lot of ups and downs, but to be here, one of the biggest teams on the continent, it’s an honour and a privilege.

“I am just happy that the Chairman gave me the chance to represent this team, and all I can say is that I will keep fighting and doing my best for the team.

The result has left the men in Gold and Black sitting pretty at the summit of the standings with a perfect record of two wins from their opening two encounters.

They will now face Mamelodi Sundowns in a highly anticipated blockbuster clash at FNB Stadium on Saturday at 15:00.
