Newcomers Hope FC look set to put their faith in Clayton Daniels as head coach going into the new Motsepe Foundation Championship season.
Hope won promotion via the ABC Motsepe League playoffs in June and, not long after their achievement, announced the departure of the man who was at the helm, Dylan Deane.
Soccer Laduma has been led to believe that Daniels has been leading the charges over the last few weeks of pre-season and he is expected to be on the bench when they open their Championship season next weekend.
Daniels served as player-coach last season, but the expectation is for the former SuperSport United and Ajax Cape Town defender to fully focus on coaching duties, while relying on experienced players such as Craig Martin, Miguel Timm and Ruzaigh Gamildien to do the job on the pitch for the club.
Hope, meanwhile, are expected to announce the signing of former Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United player Siyabonga Nhlapo. Soccer Laduma has been led to believe that the experienced campaigner is in Cape Town, preparing for the new season with the rookies.
The Cape side will open their season with a clash at home against University of Pretoria on August 22. The clash is expected to be played at Athlone Stadium, with both sides set to give their new signings debuts.
