The Democratic Alliance (DA) Federal Leader Geordin Hill-Lewis is wrapping up his three-day campaign trail in the Garden Route area on Saturday.

The DA is hoping to retain control of George, where it emerged as the biggest party in the 2021 local government elections.

This came after winning 46,4%  of the vote and 26 of the 55 council seats.

The party has been governing the municipality through a coalition with the Freedom Front Plus (FFPlus) and African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP).

Hill-Lewis’ Garden Route campaign has taken him through Mossel Bay, George and Knysna.

The party is focusing on its record in municipalities ahead of the local government elections.
