Reports circulating online alleged that Ramaphosa and other world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, had fallen ill due to food poisoning while at the summit. These claims gained significant traction on various social media platforms, prompting an official response.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs has dismissed viral claims that South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and other world leaders fell ill from food at the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) fact-checking unit officially labeled the posts as misleading and unverified. Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution regarding the rapid spread of misinformation concerning prominent political figures.

While speculation regarding the health of world leaders is common, officials have confirmed that there is no factual basis for the rumors surrounding the BRICS summit attendees.
