Media personality Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye was expected to appear before the Germiston Magistrates Court on Monday.

But now, he is expected on Wednesday.

This, after his arrest in connection with an alleged shooting involving an e-hailing driver.

The incident allegedly took place in Edenvale, east of Johannesburg, on Sunday morning.

The 45-year-old faces charges including kidnapping, the unlawful discharge of a firearm, and defeating the ends of justice.

According to police, the e-hailing driver had dropped off a woman passenger at a residential address when Maarohanye allegedly confronted him, accusing him of having a romantic relationship with his girlfriend.

Police allege the driver was then forced into a vehicle and prevented from leaving.

It is further alleged that a shot was fired in the driver’s direction, as police spokesperson Tintswalo Sibeko explains

“The e-hailing driver managed to escape unharmed and immediately drove to a nearby police station to report the matter. Police acted swiftly and arrested the suspect shortly after the incident. Investigations are continuing.”

The arrest places the television presenter back before the courts.

In 2023, he faced charges including rape, assault, and attempted murder following allegations by multiple complainants.

However, prosecutors later withdrew the case, citing insufficient prospects of a successful prosecution.
