BREAKING: Coaching change at Chippa United

By Sipho Mlotha

The on-again, off-again relationship between Chippa United chairman Siviwe Mpengesi and Dan Malesela has taken a new twist with the latter now scratching his head as he plots a way forward.

According to a source, Chippa have decided to relieve Malesela of his duties as DStv Diski Challenge coach at the club.

The former defender could not be reached for comment on the matter.

“Coach Dan has just been released from both the School of Excellence and the DDC projects since the Chippa United Diski team is based at the school, the same team that was assembled by coach Dan,” said a source.

“It’s not clear why the coach is being let go, but it’s probably about the DDC team results.”

Malesela joined both the Africa School of Excellence and the Chilli Boys’ DDC team prior to the beginning of the season. The appointments came after Mpengesi’s Chippa Group took ownership of the historic academy, bridging the gap between grassroots development and professional football.

This allowed the experienced tactician to make a sensational return to youth football development.
