Boksburg matriculant earns top youth accolade for charity work

Zamantolo Fakude, a matriculant at Eco Campus College in Boksburg, has been honoured with a prestigious national award for her unwavering commitment to community service.

The 18-year-old was recently named a winner in the Influential Awards, a platform that celebrates young people making a tangible difference in their communities.

Fakude’s journey of service began when she was just 12 years old, driven by a desire to address the socio-economic challenges facing her neighbourhood.

I have always believed that even the smallest act of kindness can create a ripple effect of change. My goal has never been about recognition, but about ensuring that those in need feel seen and supported.

Over the past six years, she has spearheaded various initiatives, including food drives, educational support programmes for underprivileged children, and environmental clean-up campaigns.

Her school principal praised her for balancing her academic responsibilities with her philanthropic efforts, noting that she serves as an inspiration to her peers.

Fakude plans to continue her community work while pursuing tertiary studies, hoping to expand her reach and impact in the coming years.
