Law enforcement in Alexandra has launched multiple investigations after three bodies were discovered in separate incidents over four days, reports Alex News.

The first body was discovered on August 3, when police found the body of Molatelo Segata, who had earlier been reported missing, underneath a bed at a house on 18th Avenue.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mpho Tshetlhane confirmed that a murder case was opened following the discovery, and that a suspect was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident.

Segata’s partner, Thulani Sajini, appeared before the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on August 5, facing charges in connection with her murder. His case was postponed to August 11. Tshetlhane said investigations are continuing.

Just days after Segata’s body was found, another woman was discovered dead along Watt Avenue, near the informal trading stalls in the Pan Africa Shopping Centre precinct. Reports suggest the woman, said to trade in the area, collapsed and died near her stall early on August 6.

Tshetlhane later confirmed that Alexandra Police Station had opened an inquest docket in relation to the incident. She noted that investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding it.

Tshetlhane further confirmed that police had opened another inquest docket after the body of a man, who had also been reported missing, was found on the roof of a dwelling on 1st Avenue later on August 6.

Videos shared on social media showed the body lying on top of a shack while police officers worked to recover it.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear. Tshetlhane said the matter is under investigation, as police work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Taken together, the three cases mark the discovery of a body in Alexandra roughly every one to two days over a four-day stretch.
