An 81-year-old Lydenburg man was found dead in his vehicle with his wrists allegedly bound with cable ties and visible injuries, in a discovery that has left his family and the local community shocked, reports the Lowvelder.

Graham Young’s body was discovered by his 76-year-old wife, Cilla, yesterday (September 1) outside Tumbleweed Nurseries in Rivier Street, which the couple owned.

According to Cilla, Young had visible injuries consistent with an assault and his wrists were bound with cable ties.

She said one of the couple’s two televisions, his cellphone and his bank card were missing, raising concerns that he may have been overpowered.

Young was a familiar face at the nursery, and news of his death has sent shockwaves through the local community.

Dilebo said a post-mortem examination will be conducted, and if it establishes that Young died as a result of foul play, the charge will be changed to murder.
