Pirates set to sign another youngster from Ermelo

Orlando Pirates are poised to sign another youngster from Mpumalanga after spotting his talent in Ermelo during the off-season in July.

The Soweto giants are preparing to add youngster Owethu Malinga to their books for this season.

He has already arrived in Johannesburg to begin a new life with the club.

Malinga has since joined another youngster from Ermelo, Simphiwe Masilela, at Bucs after the latter was promoted to the senior team ahead of the current campaign.

Masilela has already made two appearances for the side after also coming in as a second-half substitute during the Betway Premiership match against Chippa United last Sunday having also feature in the season opener against Milford FC.

According to a source close to Pirates, Malinga is expected to start his career at the Buccaneers with their DStv Diski Challenge outfit.

“Yena uyalazi (He knows how to play football) ,” revealed the source.

“They scouted the player in Mpumalanga and he is already staying at the clubhouse in Johannesburg.”

Pirates have promoted a number of youngsters to the senior team, including Mpho ‘Phopho’ Phadime.

He is still yet to make his official debut in the famous Black and White colours after traveling to Spain with the team for the pre-season.
