FCK Coach Remains Silent As Maseko Deal Nears
Thapelo Maseko is set to complete a move to FC Copenhagen after Mamelodi Sundowns finally agreed to sell the winger following a protracted transfer saga.
The 22-year-old has been pushing for a switch to the Danish giants, even posting an Instagram story watching their Conference League qualifier against Debrecen last week, which reportedly led to him being removed from Sundowns’ WhatsApp group and training on his own.

According to Tipsbladet, the two clubs have now reached an agreement for a fee of approximately €1.5 million (approximately R28 million), with a medical expected to be completed in the next 24 hours. Maseko will arrive as a squad player with the potential to develop into a starter.
The winger, who joined Sundowns in 2023, spent time on loan at AEL Limassol in Cyprus, where he rediscovered his form and earned a place in South Africa’s World Cup squad.
He featured in three of Bafana’s four group matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scoring the decisive goal in the 1-0 win over South Korea.
FC Copenhagen legend and compatriot Sibusiso Zuma has played a role in facilitating the move, having spoken to his former club about Maseko.
Copenhagen are seeking reinforcements on the wing following the departure of Elias Achouri and the expected exit of Jordan Larsson.
Head coach Bo Svensson refused to be drawn into the speculation ahead of Maseko’s move.
“I don’t really comment on players who are not under contract at FCK,” he said.
