Chiefs’ Abrahams: I’m just grateful for the opportunity

A few months ago, Faiz Abrahams’ football future appeared uncertain, and now the 21-year-old finds himself at one of Africa’s biggest clubs, living a dream that once seemed out of reach following his unsuccessful move to Israel.
Abrahams is on a season-long loan at Kaizer Chiefs from Stellenbosch FC and has already caught the eye with an educated left foot able to glide past defenders and put in pinpoint crosses. He has so far made four appearances as he looks to build from his decent start in the famous colours of the Soweto giants.

He announced himself with a stunning free-kick in a 3-2 Betway Premiership victory over Siwelele FC in September.
“In fact, I’m working harder than ever because I want to cement a regular spot in the first team,” said Abrahams, speaking exclusively to KickOff.
“I’ve fitted in well and I have to credit the coaching staff and my teammates because they are a great bunch. I just have to continue giving good performances.
“I’m just grateful for the opportunity and all praise to God for it,” he added.
The Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations winner with Amajita will be hoping to play a part in what ranks as Amakhosi’s most telling week so far this season as they face Red Arrows in the return leg of their CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round match at Moses Mabhida Stadium, before hosting TS Galaxy in the Carling Knockout Last 16 against TS Galaxy at FNB Stadium.
That will then be followed by the biggest fixture on the local football calendar, a date with arch-rivals Orlando Pirates on October 31, also at the Calabash.
