Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Lyle Lakay has officially joined a new Premier Soccer League club following his departure from Siwelele FC.
The highly-rated left-back parted ways with the Free State-based outfit at the end of last season after spending just one campaign with the club, having made the switch from SuperSport United.
Lakay had been training with Cape Town-based Hope FC for several weeks, with the ambitious club now confirming his arrival ahead of the new season.
Hope FC secured promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship and are preparing for their first-ever campaign in the professional ranks.
The newly promoted side have been busy strengthening their squad and have now added the experienced Lakay to their ranks.
“Welcome home, Lyle. Cape Town boy back in the Mother City,” the club stated.
“We’re excited to welcome the highly experienced Lyle Lakay to Hope FC.
“A decorated player in South African football and a former PSL Defender of the Season, Lyle brings invaluable experience, leadership and quality to The Immortals.
“We can’t wait to see him in the black and red. Welcome to Hope FC, Lyle.”
Hope FC have also bolstered their squad with several notable additions, including Kaizer Chiefs players Samkelo Zwane and Bontle Molefe, on loan.

Zwane spent last season with Siwelele FC in the Betway Premiership and will now link up with Hope as they prepare for their historic debut in the professional ranks.
The likes of former Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm, who was at Cape Town City last term, Brandon Theron and Tauric Gamildien, have also joined the team ahead of the new season.
