The government says every child lost to violence is a loss to the future of this country. The comments follow the murder of 14-year-old twins Bothlale and Bonolo Makena, who were found with multiple stab wounds by their mother inside a bedroom in their home in Mamelodi West, outside Pretoria.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown at this stage.
Police say there are no indications of any forced entry at the house.
Deputy Government Spokesperson William Baloyi has urged the public to share any information with the police and not to spread unverified information on social media.
“Government calls on residents of Mamelodi and surrounding communities to assist law enforcement authorities with any information that could help identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Anyone who may have seen, heard, or noticed anything unusual before, during, or after the incident is urged to come forward and provide this information directly to the South African police service or at the nearest police station,” says Baloyi.
